FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 19, 2007

Warrants Division officers Jeff Mitchell and Chuck Hagar, while in search of a probation violator at a Charlotte Pike apartment complex today, wound up seizing 4.5 pounds of marijuana, 17 Valium pills, and $3500 cash.

Mitchell and Hagar had information that the fugitive was staying in unit 1508 of the Hillwood Pointe complex. They knocked on the door and waited several minutes for the three persons inside to respond. The officers were told that the fugitive wasn’t there and were invited to check the apartment. When Officer Mitchell looked underneath a bed, he saw bags of marijuana on the floor. Additional marijuana was found in a closet and a bathroom cabinet. The money was in a pillow case. The pills were found in a nightstand.

The three men home at the time, Kejuan Bryant and Walter Joseph Miller, both 21, and Brandon Bass, 22, are charged with possession of marijuana and Valium for resale. Bryant also had two outstanding probation violation warrants, but was not the man the officers were originally looking for.
