FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 6, 2007

Outstanding police work led to the arrests of three suspects charged in three separate violent attacks on innocent citizens.

Joshua Binkley, 18, of Wesley Avenue, is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and assault. Kourtney Clark, 18, of Autumn Ridge Drive, and a 17-year-old are charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and assault.

The three alleged bullies preyed on the defenseless, beating a homeless man so severely his hip was broken.

The suspects were driving a Chevrolet Suburban July Fourth when they jumped out of the SUV and brutally attacked a 46-year-old homeless man in the 900 block of Jefferson Street at 2 a.m. after he told the would-be-robbers he had nothing to give them.

Fifteen minutes later, the second victim was walking on 12th Avenue North near Jefferson Street when the suspects got out of their Suburban and beat him for no apparent reason. The 47-year-old sustained a head injury, but refused medical treatment.

At 2:30 a.m. the suspects had driven to Grace Street where they approached a man, 46, who was walking his dog. The suspects had a large metal pole and threatened to rob him. The victim told them he only had a cell phone and gave it to them.

East Precinct officers stopped the suspect’s Suburban later that morning since it matched a description of the SUV used in the attacks. A consent search led to the seizure of the stolen cell phone.

Anyone with information about other potential crimes committed by these suspects is urged to contact Detective Robert Swisher at 862-7569.

*Photographs of Binkley and Clark are being withheld pending lineups in similar robberies/assaults.
