
The man charged in a fatal hit and run last night is identified as Michael Cross, Jr., 20, of Beech Avenue.
Cross was driving a silver Ford Crown Victoria south on 8th Avenue North when he struck a 44-year-old man who was crossing 8th Avenue North at Monroe Street at 8:50 p.m. Cross did not stop to render aid or notify police. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cross and his passenger, Kebeen Brown, 27, of 16th Avenue North, surrendered themselves at the Criminal Justice Center at 11:30 p.m. They admitted they were involved in the crash, but were too afraid to stop.
Officers located the Ford involved in the hit and run at Cross’ residence. The car had front end, hood, and heavy windshield damage.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug impairment.
Cross is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and is free on $10,000 dollars bond.
The victim’s last known address was the Nashville Union Rescue Mission. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
