Coordinated efforts between Domestic Violence Detective Jason Orsbon and SWAT members assigned to the Special Response Team led to the arrest Friday night of aggravated kidnapping suspect Ambrose Branch, 42, and the seizure of drugs and cash.
Branch was identified as a passenger in a vehicle at a gas station in LaVergne where he was taken into custody without incident at 10:15 p.m. He was in possession of 50 grams of cocaine, 16 Lortab pills, and $1,600 cash.
Wednesday night, a witness saw Branch get into his 23-year-old girlfriend’s car in the Walgreens parking lot at 4001 Central Pike and physically assault her before he forcibly removed her from the driver’s seat and drove away with the victim still inside. Police officers throughout the city worked for hours to locate the two. At 4:15 a.m. Thursday Branch told the victim to pull over on Old Hickory Boulevard. He got out of the car and told the woman to go clean herself up.
The victim drove to her grandparent’s house in Wilson County. They called police and then transported her to Summit hospital where she was treated and released. Branch and the victim have a five-month-old child together.
Branch is charged with aggravated kidnapping and felony probation violation. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.
