West Precinct detectives believe that the three young men who committed a home invasion robbery on Sugartree Road early today specifically targeted the residence likely knowing that a group of recent high school graduates were having a party.
At 1:15 a.m., the three, who were armed with a shotgun, a pistol, and a crowbar, forced their way into the rear of the house. Present at the time were an 18-year-old resident and six friends (four additional 18-year-olds and two 19-year-olds). Other persons attended the party earlier but had left by 1:15. The suspects took money, a wallet, a purse, and a makeup case from the victims. They did not ransack the house.
The suspects are described as black and in their late teens or early 20s. Two of them wore black hoodies. One wore a red hoodie. They fled the scene in a late 1990s model black two-door Pontiac Grand Prix. The car has a moon roof and 20-inch chrome wheels. Detectives continue in their efforts to identify the suspects.
Anyone with information about the three suspects or the car is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600.
