The teenager killed in an early morning single-vehicle accident at 705 Greymont Drive Monday is identified as Larry B. Jernigan, 18, of Burbank Avenue.
Jernigan was the front seat passenger in a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Daniel J. Edwards, 23, of Joplin Drive. Edwards was driving west on Greymont Drive when he lost control of his car on a sharp left curve and struck a driveway culvert at 3:30 a.m. The Monte Carlo flipped, and Jernigan was ejected from the car. Jernigan was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene from his injuries.
Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor to the crash. Charges against Edwards are pending the results of a blood alcohol test.
