A convicted felon is behind bars charged with the attempted rape of a woman Wednesday night in East Nashville. Johnnie McDonald, III, 37, of Sylvan Street, pushed the woman down a hill behind a building in an alley near South 7th and Main Streets at 9 p.m.
The victim’s screams were heard by a man at a nearby business. The citizen rushed to the woman’s aid and yelled at McDonald to stop. McDonald fled the scene.
A quick response by East Precinct officers led to McDonald’s arrest a short time later on Shelby Avenue near South 5th Street.
McDonald is being held in lieu of $200,000 dollars bond.
