FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 25, 2007

An autopsy today on the body of shooting victim Alvaro Montoya-Ruiz has led detectives to conclude that his death is a homicide and not the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound as one witness claimed.

Montoya-Ruiz, 25, received a gunshot wound to his side while in the living room of his 3549 Paragon Drive home at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. He was rushed to Southern Hills Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

South Precinct detectives have identified a suspect in the case. Charges are expected to be filed on Thursday.
