South Precinct detectives are working to confirm the name of the gunman who murdered Jonathan Harley Overstreet during a drug-related robbery late Friday night.
Jonathan Overstreet, 21, of Cane Ridge Road, his brother, Cody Overstreet, 18, of Dell Drive in Hermitage, and Jonathan’s girlfriend, Danielle Lucy, 24, had arranged to make a cocaine buy Friday night on Weaver Drive at School Lane. According to Cody Overstreet and Lucy, two men approached their car, robbed them, and started shooting. Jonathan Overstreet, who was in the backseat of the car, was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at Southern Hills Medical Center. Cody Overstreet, the driver of the car, was shot in the shoulder and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Lucy was not hurt.
Detectives have developed the name of at least one man who is believed to have knowledge about the murder. Efforts are continuing to locate him.
