Alert police work by South Precinct Flex Officer William Traughber led to this afternoon’s arrest of a couple believed responsible for a series of robberies in South and North Nashville this month.
Traughber spotted a green Plymouth Breeze, which matched the description of a robbery getaway vehicle, at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Glenrose Avenue. The driver, Larry Clardy, 47, did not have a valid license and was arrested. His passenger, Amanda Wallace, 26, was arrested for carrying a crack pipe. During questioning by South Precinct Detective Wil Nesbitt, Clardy and Wallace admitted to taking part in robberies of one convenience market, three Dollar General stores, and a dry cleaning business over the past few weeks. Clardy admitted to using a knife to accomplish many of the hold-ups. Wallace was his driver.
Clardy is charged with six counts of robbery. Wallace is charged with five counts of robbery.
