East Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 16-year-old murder suspect William Allen Sawyers, who is charged in a Juvenile Court arrest order with last Sunday’s shooting death of Jose Flores on Joseph Avenue.
Efforts to locate Sawyers, of 33 Shepard Street, since early Friday have been unsuccessful thus far. Detectives have information that Sawyers was the gunman in Flores’ murder.
Flores was fatally wounded during an attempted robbery at his 868 Joseph Avenue home. Four other teenagers, Chrisantoney Woods, 16, Terrence Simpson, 16, Antwan Whitehead, 15, and Chris Northern, 17, were charged Friday with criminal homicide after they admitted to taking part in the attempted robbery.
Anyone seeing Sawyers or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or East Precinct detectives at 862-7525.
