North Precinct detectives believe that Friday night’s fatal wounding of Marvin Allen Ivory occurred as the result of a dispute over $50.

Ivory, 24, received a gunshot wound to the abdomen while in the 1900 block of 14th Avenue North at 10:15 p.m. Friday. Ivory managed to drive himself to his nearby home. From there, he was taken to General Hospital and was then transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died early Saturday.

Arrested Saturday and charged with criminal homicide was William Lamont Green, 20, of the 2000 block of 14th Avenue North.

Detectives learned that Ivory had apparently found $50 on the floor of a market. Green claimed the money belonged to him. The men engaged in a heated argument Friday night. Witnesses reported that during the argument, Green retrieved a pistol from a vehicle and shot Ivory.

Green is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
