Metro Police patch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 27, 2007

A Nashville drug dealer’s fortune finally crumbled with his guilty plea this month to supplying hundreds of pounds of marijuana and at least nine kilograms of cocaine to the Middle Tennessee area over at least the past five years.

In addition to agreeing to a 15-year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine, Damian Anter, 33, agreed to forfeit his interest in 14 homes, one of which is located in Hendersonville’s Wyngate subdivision and is valued at $300,000.

All of the real estate, a 1996 Hummer H1, a 1980 Corvette, and hundreds of home furnishings will be auctioned to the highest bidder through the city’s eBid auction site (some of the properties will have minimum opening bids to satisfy mortgage obligations).

In 2006, Metro police officers assigned to the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force teamed up with West Precinct undercover officers to make marijuana buys from Anter. Anter obtained his marijuana and cocaine from a variety of sources, one of which sent marijuana through UPS and FED EX shipments to Anter’s rental houses. Anter was arrested on September 19, 2006, in possession of 174 pounds of marijuana within 1000 feet of Amqui Elementary School.

Seized during the Anter investigation were 196 pounds of marijuana, $250,000 cash, 23 firearms, three vehicles (including the Hummer and Corvette), two trailers, and more than 600 various household items.

The properties that will begin appearing on Metro Government’s eBid auction site next month include:

“Damian Anter laundered his drug profits by buying real estate, expensive cars, and elaborate home furnishings,” Chief Ronal Serpas and District Attorney Torry Johnson said in a joint statement.

“The final result of this investigation ensures that Anter’s fortune is no more, and that his drug-financed luxuries will long have been in the hands of new owners by the time he gets out of prison,” Serpas and Johnson said.

The proceeds from the sale of Anter’s property will fund the continuing drug investigations of the Drug Task Force and police department.

Entities assisting on the Anter investigation include the Metro police department’s Specialized Investigations Division, TBI, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Immigration & Customs Enforcement, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
