A second person has been charged in connection with the June 23, 2005, homicide of Reuben Green, who was shot and killed during a baseball game at Shelby Park.
Onieka Swanson, 25, is charged with premeditated first degree murder for pointing out Green to her boyfriend, Rossi Pinkston, 25, who is charged with approaching Green and shooting him multiple times at close range. Green was 15.
At the time of his murder, Green was a fugitive facing a number of charges, including three counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated rape, in connection with a home invasion at an apartment on North Dupont Avenue. Two suspects, one of whom was identified by a victim as Reuben Green, entered the apartment, robbed and sexually assaulted two women, and robbed an 18-year-old male occupant.
On the evening of the murder, Pinkston, the two women, and the 18-year-old robbery victim were in Shelby Park watching Pinkston’s son play baseball. While there, Swanson saw Green near some bleachers and pointed him out to Pinkston.
Pinkston readily admitted he was the shooter and was charged with criminal homicide the day after Green’s murder.
