School Resource Officers at Whites Creek High School today arrested a 17-year-old 10th grader for carrying a loaded .22-caliber pistol on campus.

The 17-year-old was called to the principal’s office to be asked what he knew about recent locker thefts. While there, he reached into his pocket and surrendered the gun. It was loaded with six rounds.

The teenager said he was carrying the pistol for protection. He claimed it was given to him by a friend.

The 17-year-old was charged at juvenile detention with carrying a gun on school property. The investigation into how he got the revolver is continuing.
