An elderly Texas man has died from injuries he sustained in a February 14 automobile accident in Bellevue.
James Chambers, 72, of Lubbock, Texas, was exiting the Bellevue Florist parking lot at 220 Old Hickory Boulevard at 5:30 p.m. in his 1998 Buick when he pulled into oncoming traffic. Chambers was struck in the driver’s side door by a 1994 Isuzu Trooper driven by Michael Ashworth, 23, of Fairview, Tennessee.
Ashworth and his passenger, Sarah Derrick, 18, of Fairview, were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Chambers, the only passenger in his car, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died yesterday.
Investigators say Chamber’s failure to yield to oncoming traffic was the contributing factor to this fatal crash.
