
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday afternoon/evening resulted in four arrests involving four misdemeanors and one outstanding warrant.
At least once a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of seven SID detectives and five patrol officers. Areas targeted were Nix Drive, Welworth Street, the Tradewinds area, North Dupont Avenue, 16th Avenue North and Buchanan Street, the Dr. D.B. Todd Boulevard area, 11th Avenue North and Jefferson Street, 10th Avenue North and Jackson Street, 6th Avenue North and Garfield Street, South 6th Street and Shelby Avenue, North 2nd Street and Hancock Street, North 1st Street and Spring Street, and Dellway Villa.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative has now netted 792 arrests involving 868 misdemeanor charges, 167 felony charges, and 207 outstanding warrants.
