Detectives are uncertain if Monday night’s home invasion robbery of a Hispanic family on Bowfield Road is linked to a series of other home invasion robberies of Hispanic persons over the past several weeks.
Without being specific, the mannerisms of the suspects in last night’s case were different than those of the suspects in the other robberies.
The four masked suspects, who were armed with handguns and a rifle, entered the home through an unlocked door at 10 p.m. last night and demanded money. Inside were a 22-year-old man, his 19-year-old wife, and their young child. The suspects were given money and they fled the home. No one was hurt.
Anyone with information on the robbers is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
As part of the police department’s efforts to help Hispanic community members protect themselves, El Protector Officer Rafael Fernandez from the Hermitage Precinct will speak about the robbery cases and offer safety tips tomorrow morning on La Latina and La Sabrosita radio stations during the 7 a.m. hour. The radio stations are located at 2514 Eugenia Avenue.
