Three juveniles charged with aggravated robbery in a carjacking Friday night will remain in custody pending a hearing April 13 to determine if they will be tried as adults.
A woman drove a 1994 Toyota 4Runner into her Edmondson Pike apartment complex at 10:30 p.m. when three suspects approached her and demanded her car and money. One of the suspects held a gun to her head. She complied and the carjackers fled in the SUV.
The suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle on Packard Drive and fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended due to the quick on-duty response of South Precinct Flex officers, Gang detectives, Auto Theft detectives, and the Special Response Team.
The victim identified Jose Navarro, 15, of Benita Drive, and Javed Ayube, 17, of Harding Place, as the carjackers. The K9 Unit located the third suspect, Jude Sanchez, 17, of McMurray Drive, and took him into custody. A .40 caliber handgun was also recovered.
