Metro Police patch

The construction worker killed in today’s accident at Metro’s Dry Creek wastewater treatment plant at 61 Edenwold Road, has been identified as Ezequiel Resendiz, 22, of Bonita Springs, Florida.

Resendiz was standing between a steel trench support box and a concrete wall at 2:30 p.m. when the driver of a large backhoe, Jeremiah Watts, 27, also of Bonita Springs, Florida, inadvertently struck the storage box pinning Resendiz between the box and the wall. The construction project involved renovation work for Metro Water Services.

Both men worked for Birmingham, Alabama-based contractor Brasfield and Gorrie.

The investigation is ongoing, but charges are not expected to be filed.
