FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 9, 2007

Pennsylvania authorities last night apprehended Karl Laughlin, who was wanted for questioning in connection with the Pennsylvania murder of a woman whose body was recovered last Friday from her burning automobile in a West Nashville trucking company parking lot.

Officers found Laughlin, 48, at his home in Clairton, Pennsylvania, and took him into custody on outstanding assault charges.

The Nashville Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday positively identified the murder victim as Paula Lanz, 39, who was listed as a missing person in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on February 1.

Lanz’s husband, Henry Ricky Lanz, is charged in Pennsylvania with his wife’s murder. He claims Laughlin was involved and was the person who drove the victim’s body from Pennsylvania to Tennessee.
