SWAT officers assigned to the police department’s Special Response Team this afternoon arrested a California man who is wanted in Florida for stalking 2005 American Idol contestant/finalist Jessica Sierra.
Daniel Robert Young, 60, who claims to have moved to Nashville a few months ago, contacted Sierra’s Nashville agent Thursday inquiring about the singer. Verge Management filed a harassment complaint with the Metro police department, noting that Young was arrested in Tampa, Florida, in January 2006 for repeatedly calling the singer’s cell phone and showing up at Sierra’s grandmother’s home.
Despite his arrest and several months of incarceration, Young is alleged to have repeatedly tried to contact Sierra since last September. Florida authorities reactivated the stalking case after Young violated court orders to stay away from Sierra, her family, and management.
Young, who was arrested on Gallatin Pike near Briley Parkway, is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond pending his extradition to Tampa.
