North Precinct detectives this afternoon charged a Nashville 18-year-old with five counts of aggravated robbery for pulling a gun, pepper spraying and robbing five employees of four businesses, including two Asian restaurants.
Sedric Lamont Holt, of 127 University Court, surrendered himself at the North Precinct late this morning after learning that officers were on the streets looking for him.
During an interview with detectives, Holt admitted to pepper spraying and robbing victims in the following businesses:
House of Choy, 3825 Dickerson Pike, at 8:20 p.m. on December 26;
Angel Nails, 450 Donelson Pike, at 7:15 p.m. on January 12;
Jackson Hewitt Tax Preparation, 922 Main Street, at 6:15 p.m. on January 20 (two victims);
China Buffet, 5336 Charlotte Avenue, at 9:20 p.m. on January 20.
A cell phone found in the victim’s recovered stolen car in the House of Choy case led to the identification of Holt as a suspect. An arrest warrant charging Holt in that case was issued Thursday; however, efforts to locate Holt on Thursday were unsuccessful. Upon his surrender today, Holt was asked about the three other robbery cases in which pepper spray was used. He admitted that he was involved in each. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
“North Precinct Detective Russ Thompson and his colleagues worked diligently to get Holt identified and off the streets,” Chief Ronal Serpas said. “I am very appreciative of their efforts.”
