Metro police officer Charles Williams has submitted a letter of resignation effective January 24.
Williams, 38, was convicted of misprision of a felony Monday in federal court in connection with his knowledge of an alleged cocaine theft. He had been on administrative assignment since November 2005 while the joint Metro and federal investigation ran its course.
In his two sentence letter, dated yesterday, Williams wrote: “Please accept this letter as my formal notification that I am resigning as a Nashville Metropolitan Police Officer effective 1/24/2007. Thank you for the opportunities you have provided me during my 16 years serving as a Metro Nashville Police Officer.”
