FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 11, 2007

Middle Tennessee police officers and members of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task force are working to identify the man who today attempted to rob one bank in Inglewood and succeeded in robbing another bank in Hendersonville.

At 9:05 a.m., the would-be robber entered Bank of America's 3800 Gallatin Road branch and handed a robbery note to a teller. This particular branch is equipped with bullet-resistant enclosures around the teller area. When the teller didn't immediately react to the note, the robber realized that he couldn't force this issue and fled the bank.

At 10:30 a.m., the same suspect entered US Bank's branch at 169 East Main Street in Hendersonville . He again handed a teller a note demanding money. She complied, and the robber fled the bank with cash.

The robber is a white man in his 30's and approximately 5'10" tall. He wore a dark colored ball cap with a round emblem, glasses, blue jeans, a sweater with a horizontal design, and a jacket.

Anyone recognizing the suspect from the banks' surveillance photos is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Task Force at 232-7500 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
