A Nashville man is under arrest for Friday night’s fatal shooting of a woman whose son was the intended target.
Demance Marshall Beasley, 19, of Hydes Ferry Drive, is being held without bond on charges of criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, unlawful gun possession, cocaine possession and theft.
The investigation shows that Beasley came to the 900 block of Blank Street and initiated a confrontation with Antwaun Jordan, 28, of South 5th Street, and Charles Bond, 23, of 920 Blank Street. During the confrontation, Beasley pulled a pistol and began shooting. One of the rounds entered a window of 920 Blank Street and struck Bond’s mother, Sherri Bond, 42. She was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Jordan suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was also taken to Vanderbilt for treatment.
Charles Bond identified Beasley as the gunman. West Precinct patrol officers arrested Beasley at 4:30 a.m. Saturday when he drove by the scene of the shooting.
At the time of his arrest, Beasley was carrying a gun that was stolen out of Maury County, and a rock of crack cocaine.
The investigation by West Precinct detectives is continuing.
