Three members of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department have completed Northwestern University 's ten-week School of Police Staff and Command. Central Precinct Commander Andy Garrett, Recruiting Lieutenant Michelle Donegan, and North Precinct Sergeant Vernon Johnson are being recognized for their educational and professional advancement in organizational methods and management concepts that will benefit the community. "It is certainly an admirable accomplishment," Chief Ronal Serpas said, "as well as a testament to these supervisors' dedication and determination to better themselves and this police department."
The School of Police Staff and Command provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for assuming increased responsibilities in administrative staff or line command positions. From the time it was launched in 1983, the SPSC has received enthusiastic response from executives and trainers throughout the country. A review of the course curriculum verifies its completeness and appropriateness for organizational and personal development designed for today's progressive police managers and their agencies.
