This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash, for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve the murder of 36 year old Eric Brown at his Charlotte Ave. business in west Nashville.
On Wednesday, October 24, 2007, shortly after 4:00 in the afternoon, a customer found Eric Brown lying in the alley behind his business at 5908 b- Charlotte Ave. He had been shot one time in the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. Eric was the owner of Spudz restaurant which specialized in baked potatoes. His nickname on the street was Potato Man. West precinct detectives determined that Eric was shot inside his business and ran out the back door in an attempt to escape his killer. Detectives also discovered that drugs were being sold out of Eric’s business but they are unsure whether it contributed to his death, or if this was a random robbery.
Detectives are looking for three male blacks who were in a late 70’s or early 80’s Oldsmobile 88 or 98 or similar General Motors product. Police said it was possible that someone inside the getaway car may not have known what was going to happen and they hope that person will come forward to share what they know.
The robbery and shooting was caught on video. Detectives have released the outdoor video of the car used in the murder. You can view a slide show of the car at www.police.nashville.org.
