Crime of the Week

December 11, 2007

This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash, for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve the murder of 17-year-old Demarius Lacey on Pennock Ave. in east Nashville.

On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, shortly after 3:00 in the afternoon, Demarius Lacey was visiting at a house in the 1400 block of Pennock Ave. in east Nashville. He was talking to several persons and had his back to the door. A gunman opened the door and shot Demarius repeatedly. Demarius was hit several times and fell to the floor. The gunman fled out the door and around the side of the house to the alley where he was seen getting into a black car that sped away. Demarius was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The gunman was described as a male black in his late teens or early twenties. He was about five feet eight inches tall and had braided hair. At the time of the murder he was wearing a white tank top and orange and black shorts. The car was a newer black sedan. Detectives are not sure if the second occupant of the car knew what was about to happen and they hope that person will come forward to tell his side of the story.

East Precinct detectives are trying to determine if Demarius was the intended target or if this was a random act.
