Crime of the Week
November 27, 2007
This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash, for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve the murder of 36 year old Caroline Langley Grollnek whose body was found on the east side of the Cumberland river near downtown.
On Thursday, October 18, 2007 at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon, an employee of Alley Cassetty Brickyard at #2 Oldham Street was walking near the river’s edge behind the property when he smelled an odor. He walked close and found a dead body on the riverbank. Detectives responded and discovered that the body was a white female. The medical examiner determined that she was a victim of foul play. Six days later police were able to identify her as Caroline Langley Grollnek. Caroline was fighting a drug addiction and had turned to the streets as a prostitute to fund her habit. The last time she was seen was on October 5th when she got into a light colored pick up truck with tinted windows at the intersection of North 1st Street and Oldham Street.
Police are asking the public to call if they know of someone who frequents the area that drives a similar truck and is known for patronizing prostitutes.
Detectives also have not ruled out that her murder may not be related to her lifestyle and that she may have been murdered for another reason.
