Crime of the Week
September 11, 2007
This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve the murder of 25 year old Victor Mendez in south Nashville.
On Saturday, July 14, 2007 at approximately 4:00 in the morning, a resident of the Sunrise apartments at 189 Wallace Road went outside to leave for work. As he approached his car he noticed a man was lying on the ground bleeding. Officers responded to the scene and confirmed that the man was dead. Police were able to identify the man as Victor Mendez. Detectives were able to determine that victor stopped his jeep in the parking lot and got out. He walked to the rear of his jeep where he was confronted by someone who shot him. He fell to the ground and wasn’t found for a couple of hours. Residents told detectives that they heard gunshots around midnight.
Victor’s jeep was distinctive because it was red in color but had a
white rear tailgate. Detectives hope that someone may have seen Victor talking
to someone behind his jeep in the parking lot and that they will call Crime
Stoppers to share what they saw.
