This week Nashville crime stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve this robbery of the manager of the Grand Slam Market in Madison.
On Friday, June 29, 2007 at approximately 12:35 during the lunch hour, a man walked through the parking lot of the Grand Slam Market located at 500 East Old Hickory Boulevard in Madison. He walked over to a nearby pay phone that is located on the property and pretended to use it. The manager of the market came outside with a deposit and went to his SUV. He got into the SUV and was preparing to leave when the man on the phone walked over, opened his door and stuck a gun into the manager’s ribs. The man ordered him to surrender the money. After getting the cash he ran around the corner of the market and was last seen running south on Forrest Park Drive.
The robber was described as being a male black in his 20’s or early 30’s. He was about five feet ten inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark boonie hat, a white tee shirt with black writing on the back, denim shorts and black tennis shoes.
North precinct detectives are seeking the public’s help. This robbery occurred during the busy lunch hour and they hope that someone may have seen him get into a car or that they may recognize the man from the excellent photos of the robbery. They believe he lives in the immediate area of the market.
