Crime of the Week
July 17, 2007
This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve the murder of Jose Miguel Avendano of south Nashville.
On Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at approximately 2:00 in the morning, two men were sitting in the parking lot of the Dominion House Apartments at 5099 Linbar Drive when they saw two men walk up to a silver Honda and attempt to break into it. The men confronted the thieves and a brief struggle broke out. The thieves got away only to return about an hour later. They started shooting at the silver Honda and shot several other cars. They shot into several apartments in the building where the two good Samaritans entered after the struggle. Jose Avendano was asleep in his bed and awoke when he heard the shots. He looked out of his window and was struck by one of the bullets fired by the thieves. Jose was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The killers may have possibly been in a white or silver car. They were described as being male Asians in their 20’s.
