Crime of the Week

June 5, 2007

This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve this kidnapping and robbery of an elderly woman in Madison.

On Friday, March 30th 2007, at approximately noon, an elderly woman pulled into the Big K store at 1508 South Gallatin Road near Briley Parkway and started to get out of her car when two women approached her. They told her to stay in her car and demanded money. One robber got into the back seat while the other jumped into the passenger seat of the woman’s car. They ordered her to drive to the First Tennessee Bank at South Gallatin Road near Due West Ave. The women threatened the lady with harm if she did not do exactly as they said. One woman went into the bank with the victim and had her attempt to get a cash advance on her credit card. The teller refused the transaction so they left and went to the Am South Bank at 600 South Gallatin Road in the heart of Madison where they tried a second time. The teller at Am South also refused the transaction. The women made the elderly victim drive to the CVS Pharmacy at Gallatin Road and Due West Ave. where they told her to go into the store. When she looked outside a few minutes later the suspects were gone.

The women were described as female blacks in their 40’s. The woman that went into the bank was wearing a white short sleeved shirt and gray pants. The car was a silver Ford Escort.

The robbery was caught by surveillance cameras and you can view a slide show of the crime.
