This week Nashville crime stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve the murder of Memphis resident J.C. Williams, in east Nashville.
On Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at approximately one fifteen in the morning, officers responded to a 911 call concerning a shooting at South 8th Street near Sylvan Street. Officers arrived and found Memphis resident J.C. Williams lying on the ground, near a car that had the door open. An ambulance responded and transported him to Vanderbilt Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Witnesses said that Mr. Williams was sitting in his car when another car pulled up. Two men got out and walked over to Mr. Williams. One robbed him while the other stood guard. The robber shot Mr. Williams while the second man fired some shots at a nearby witness. They jumped into the car and fled.
The car was described as a red Pontiac Grand Am with tinted windows. The two gunmen were described as being male blacks but the driver’s description is unknown.
The victim was in a black, 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt 4 door. The car had Texas license plates.
