Crime of the Week
January 30, 2007
This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve this burglary in the 900 block of Ward Street in east Nashville.
On Wednesday December 27, 2006 between nine am and three pm, burglars broke into a house on Ward Street and stole two gaming stations, a DVD player and some guns. This case is different from most burglaries because of the quantity and type weapons that were stolen. Police are very concerned that these weapons will turn up in the wrong hands and that citizens will be on the wrong end of the gun. One of the weapons stolen is a Chinese-made SKS rifle. It fires a 7.62 caliber round and has a thirty round magazine. It is very popular with criminals because it holds thirty rounds of ammunition and is very powerful.
This section of Ward Street intersects with Montgomery Ave. and is heavily traveled. Detectives hope that someone may have seen the burglars carrying weapons to a vehicle or fleeing the scene.
The descriptions of the thieves involved are not known however East Precinct detectives are hoping that someone may have heard who committed this burglary or know where the weapons are.
If you have information which might help Metro Police solve this burglary in the 900 block of Ward Street in east Nashville, call Crime Stoppers. If the arrest results in the arrest and prosecution, you could be eligible for a cash reward of $1000.
Crime stoppers will also pay up to $1000 for clues called in to 74-CRIME on any other major crime, wanted person, stolen property or drugs. Callers remain anonymous, they will only be known by the code number they are issued.
