Hit and Run Unit
Hit and Run Unit officers are assigned with the task to follow up with all hit and run crashes occurring within Davidson County. The officers work closely with the initial reporting officers as well as the crash investigators assigned to fatal or critical injury crashes.
Officers assigned to the unit are as highly trained in traffic crash reconstruction as the crash investigators. Evidence remaining from a vehicle is closely examined along with other evidence and witness accounts. This is in an effort to identify the hit and run vehicle and driver. These cases are very complex and require detailed investigations.
